- Don't let the sullen look fool you, the willow dragon is probably just pining over the beauty of its environment. Those who spend any amount of time with it invariably feel an increased sense of calm.
- —Nogard's description of the willow dragon in The Book of Dragons
Willow dragons can camouflage themselves as actual willow trees. Their skin is pretty hard to pierce.
Despite usually being lazy, willow dragons can, if they want to, fly for very long times without breaks.
Willow dragons usually live on the edge of forests, or in large fields. They particularly like standing at the top of hills.
Willow dragons are well adapted to take on the forces of nature, and do not seek shelter.
Willow dragons can catch their prey while standing still. They open their mouth, attract insects by producing a weird sap, and close it to swallow them when there are a lot. They can survive long times with only a small amount of food.
Behavior and Personality
Willow dragons are exclusively unaggressive, and are very appreciative of beauty and excellence in the world. They can stand at one place for weeks in a row.
Willow dragons usually stand alone, but may appear in groups. They do not behave different around others of their kind than when they are alone.
Relationship to Wizards
Willow dragons are usually present at funerals, as they bring good luck for spirits. Wild willow dragons do not mind the company of wizards and will even offer them some shade. They will usually ignore anyone attacking ghem and fly away if necessary, rather than fight back, so DDLA has ranked them as 1.
Origin of Name
Those dragons are named after their wings' resemblance to willow tree branches.
