- As Nogard says, you shouldn't judge a star by the brightness of its twinkle. The procyon star isn't the brightest in the skybox and this pale yellow creature is similarly dim, but don't think for a moment that this reflects upon the dragon's intelligence. This sharp-witted dragon eluded discovery for a long time, playing a game of stellar hide-and-seek with the wizards. Now that it's finally been discovered, we're thrilled to have such a bright dragon join us in the Vale!
- —Nogard's description of the procyon dragon in The Book of Dragons
The Procyon Dragon is an epic dragon of the Galaxy element.

Relationship to Wizards[]
Procyon dragons almost never come into contact with wizards. The last time wild ones came into contact was when a group of Astronomancers traveled to their constellation to temporarily retrieve one and breed some on this planet. They described the dragons as peaceful and playful, so DDLA ranked them as 1.

Discovery[]
Noel dePlante and The Great Nogard knew there was a new type of Galaxy dragon hiding somewhere in the universe, but they couldn't find it. One night, Noel and Nogard were looking through a telescope, hoping to find it. Nogard told Noel to look at the Canis Minor Constellation, and Noel said: "But that constellation is so dim! Even the brightest star only emits such a small amount of light." To that, Nogard replied: "My dear Noel, a star shouldn't be judged by the brightness of its twinkle." Noel then looked at the procyon star, and quickly discovered this new dragon.
Origin of Name[]
The procyon dragon is named after the brightest star of the constellation it was hiding in.
