- While exploring a cave, deep in the middle of the Berrywhite Mountains, the explorer Antonio von Sickengen discovered a third treasure dragon; the platinum. After achieving his fame with the platinum dragon, Antonio retired to a quiet life raising and studying quicksilver dragons.
- —Nogard's description of the platinum dragon in The Book of Dragons
The armor plates on the platinum dragon's head, legs, wings and back protect it.
This creature seems designed more for water than land. Even as babies they are excellent swimmers, and their muscular, streamlined bodies are inherited from their water dragon ancestors.
Platinum dragons are sometimes found in the caves beneath the Berrywhite Mountains, where they were discovered, and also in the Tull Caverns, usually in subterranean lakes. Many are also found on the southern coast.
Platinum dragons are carnivores that eat a variety of foods, such as fish, birds, land animals, and even snakes. They are even known to dive beneath the waves and attack sharks and toothed whales. In packs they've been known to even attack a Livyatan.
