The story of the plasma dragon is a strange one. Years ago the brilliant wizard Franklin Dogood was caught in a terrible storm when a bolt of lightning struck a nearby pond, instantly evaporating it. Ever the scholar, Franklin went to investigate and discovered something incredible -- a baby dragon where the pond once stood!

History

Discovery

The plasma dragon was first discovered by the brilliant wizard Franklin Dogood. He was out in a fierce thunderstorm one night when lightning struck the surface of a nearby pond where, unbeknownst to the wizard, a plasma dragon egg had been incubating. The pond was evaporated instantly by the lightning, and when Dogood went over to investigate, he found a plasma dragon hatchling. He promptly named the new species the plasma dragon, thinking that the lightning had somehow created the baby dragon, and took it to the Capitol for its registration as a dragon species, but when he told the bizarre story about its origin, The Board of Dragon Registration dismissed the hatchling as a variant lightning dragon mutated from being underwater for too long. It was almost a year before Dogood was able to find more wild plasma dragons and prove they were a species in their own right. It later seemed those all hatched through the same process, as plasma dragons went extinct years before, but the eggs laying in ponds stayed and lightning caused them all to hatch.
