"The intrepid explorer Ser Rocco was traversing the Kakapo mountains when something lively caught his eye. It was a group of party dragons excited by the sight of his airship and vying for his attention! Thinking it might be his last chance to see a new dragon discovered, Ser Rocco invited several of these dragons aboard his airship. Since then, party dragons have been renowned for their bouncy, happy attitude."
—Nogard's description of the party dragon in The Book of Dragons

The Party Dragon is an epic dragon of the Rainbow element

Appearance[]

Party dragons are very similar to birds. They have mostly dark purple feathers, with a few violet spots on their legs, beneath their eyes, and on the tip of their tails. Their wings are a bizarre mix of the leathery wings found on most dragons and the feathery wings found on birds; their wing membranes have a feathery pattern on them, and they have rainbowy feathers on tops of their wings. They also have two dull purple claws on each of their wings, resembling the claws found on a bat's wings. Party dragons possess a thick ruff of rainbow colors feathers on their head, a headdress of rainbow colored feathers on their head, and tufts of rainbow color feathers on their feet and at the tip of their tail. Alongside all the rainbow colored feathers, they also have small, rainbow colored "spines" running down their backs. Party dragons have three thick, light dull purple claws, as well as a similarly colored dewclaw, on each of their feet. Party dragons have bluish purple chins, as well as a lighter purple coloring on their eyelids and between their eyes. They have slightly jagged lavender beaks, and round, owl-like golden eyes. They also have a bluish purple "gemstone" in the middle of their tail; the purpose of this gemstone is still unknown.

Interestingly, recent studies have concluded that the feathers covering a majority of a party dragon's body actually flash and flicker in concentric patterns, comparable to the lights seen on a disco floor. These patterns appear to be unique for every party dragon. Thing is, the lights on a party dragon's body only come in ultraviolet, so unless you are either are very adept at chromolumination spells, happen to own a blacklight, or for some reason have the ability to see ultraviolet light naturally, you most likely never be able to witness a party dragon's lightshow.

Abilities[]

Weapons[]

While party dragons mostly use "the best offense is a good defense" in a fight, they have also been known to fiercely peck at their enemies, and they also have a surprisingly powerful kick.

Defenses[]

Somewhat hilariously, given that most wizards and witches would consider them adorable, the party dragon's main defense mechanism is intimidation. Their brightly colored rainbow feathers, as well as the aforementioned ultraviolet lightshow they constantly let off, can startle would-be predators. They can also fluff up the feathers on their neck, tail, and "headdress" in order to make themselves look bigger and more threatening, and let out loud squawks to scare away predators.

Other Abilities[]

Party dragons are surprisingly amazing dancers. They also possess an unusual tolerance of vertigo; despite constantly spinning their heads around, they never get dizzy and they never seem to have trouble focusing on one thing. As they are nocturnal in the wild, they also possess excellent night vision and a very keen sense of smell.
