- The miasma dragon gets its... unique... scent from the ability to absorb undesirable aromas from around its environment. The rest of the park, as a result, has never smelled better! Despite the noxious fumes surrounding it, visitors still manage to enjoy the dragon, albeit from a comfortable distance.
- —Nogard's description of the miasma dragon in The Book of Dragons
Common Miasma Dragon
The most common variant that is held in parks.
Urban Miasma Dragon
Found more in urban areas, this variant is a little darker and carries garbage on its skin to stink even more.
Smoke Miasma Dragon
Also found in urban areas and more specifically near factories, this variant has scales resembling those of the Smoke Dragon giving it a light gray color.
River Miasma Dragon
Found near swampless polluted rivers like The Aichpey River, this variant is covered in seaweed and has a dark blue color with black spots.
The miasma dragon may already stink a lot, but when provoked, it can release an even stinkier gas from its tail. No wizard or witch could stay in the gas long enough to study it, but it likely contains hydrogen sulfide and burning bromine. The gas doesn't seem to be toxic, but a wizard stood for about a minute in it and returned with burn wounds, making it likely that there actually is fire in the gas.
Its scent is enough protection.
Miasma dragons are able to absorb bad smells from the air around them, but as a result it makes them quite smelly. Nevertheless, wizards have found this ability quite useful. Sometimes, miasma dragons get led around a building to clear it of undesirable scents... and then moved to a habitat far away from the building to be cleaned off.
Their breath is its gas launched at high speeds.
This miasma dragon stink defense doesn't work when sprayed with large amounts of water or underwater.
Miasma dragons are attracted to polluted air, which helps with their digestion process.
