Despite its name, the melancholy dragon isn't actually gloomy -- instead, this droopy-looking dragon seems to be more like a sadness-soaking sponge. Visitors claim that spending time with this dragon actually seems to lift their spirits, as if the melancholy dragon absorbs their troubles. In fact, it's not uncommon for magical healers to prescribe an afternoon with this adorably mopey dragon to cure a case of blue-hoos. Whether it works or not, the gloomy dragon doesn't seem to mind the company.
—Nogard's description of the melancholy dragon in The Book of Dragons

The Melancholy Dragon is an epic dragon of the Aura element.

Appearance

The melancholy dragon is blue, with its downward-pointed horns and the tips of its outer feathers lavender. It has two pairs of wings in the place of arms and/or legs: the pair higher up on its body is twice as large as its hind wings. The end of its tail is heavily feathered. It has two eyes, and its eyelids are almost constantly giving it a depressed look, as well as its mouth pointing down.
