Howl dragons use their horns and tail spikes to duel other howl dragons. Toward other species of dragons they are mostly non-aggressive, instead choosing to ward off potential attackers with their reverberating screams.
Howl dragons' frightening screams scare off most potential attackers. Additionally, they are active only at night, making them difficult targets to attack. Howl dragons are threatened only by territorial Dark element dragons and, of course, by humans.
Howl dragons, unlike most Dark element dragons, are unable to see in the dark, so they navigate through echolocation.
Howl dragons feed mainly on bats, which they locate using echolocation and scoop up in their large mouths. They also occasionally catch owls and other nocturnal birds, but this is not their usual diet.
